Title: IT Merchandising Applications Account Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The IT Merchandising Applications Account Manager’s role is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate all Project Portfolio Management activities for their assigned business area(s). Project Portfolio Management (PPM) is the set of processes by which IT captures project requests, selects and initiates specific projects, monitors project performance and verifies completion and benefits realization. The IT Account manager serves as the facilitator of the PPM processes, working with both IT and business area leadership to prioritize technology-related demand, allocate financial and human resources to the investments, manage the governance-oriented collaboration with the business stakeholders, and provide reporting to stakeholders for decision making and the communication of investment status.

Job Responsibilities and Activities

  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate the monthly Business Area Technology Steering Committee meetings (TSC) between IT and Business leadership to review the project portfolio.
  • Provide regular project portfolio status summaries including both schedule and financial progress against the fiscal year plan
  • Proactively manage the project demand calendar to initiate projects in a timely manner based on the capacity of both IT and business resources to take on new work, the availability of key IT service team resources, and the status of significant project and/or infrastructure dependencies.
  • Guide project managers and directors through the IT governance processes for initiating projects
  • Integrate into their respective IT Vice President’s staff meetings for weekly portfolio updates
  • Coordinate regularly scheduled meetings with key IT Service Teams to communicate the needs of upcoming projects and channel feedback regarding their capacity to support those projects
  • Manage the technology-related Strategic Roadmap for their assigned business area(s) including both a detailed rolling 5-Qtr plan as well as a high-level 3-year plan
  • Facilitate the Annual Planning process for capital project planning and budgeting for their assigned business area(s).
  • Maintain customer relationships through regular communications with business/IT leaders.
  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and trends in the Information Technology and retail industries in order to drive innovation in the organization.

    Job Requirements
    Education, Certification, and Relevant Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related discipline or;
  • 6-8 years relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence key IT and business leaders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to work in geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Some travel may be required

    Physical Requirements
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
