TITLE: Six Sigma Technical Analyst

PURPOSE:

The Six Sigma Technical Analyst is responsible for supporting the Six Sigma Portfolio Management System (Clarity) and the data quality analysis activities of the Six Sigma Data Collection team. He/she manages the technical aspects of the Clarity application within Six Sigma, ensuring the application’s functionality and data is properly maintained and works as designed. The Technical Analyst is also responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the Clarity application, including making minor field adjustments as required by the Six Sigma initiative and providing technical and business requirements expertise during major Clarity upgrades and conversions. In addition, the Technical Analyst acts as the key data quality analyst for the Six Sigma Data Collection team, extracting and analyzing data from various SuperValu systems and providing expert visibility into data quality issues as they are identified by Black Belts and other Six Sigma resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the daily and ongoing maintence of the Portfolio Management System (Clarity)
  • Leads the Six Sigma Clarity Support User group in the identification of Clarity technical/business issues and the communication of resolutions when they are identified
  • Documents business requirements identified for the Clarity application
  • Codes requirements into the Portfolio Management System
  • Manages enhancement requests for future releases/upgrades to the Clarity system
  • Coordinates data quality issue identification and resolution for the Six Sigma Data Collection Team
  • Investigates and analyzes data to provide IT with the information necessary to identify source of data quality issues
  • Partners with IT and the data stewards of those databases that contain inaccurate information to ensure timely resolution of data quality issues

    JOB SCOPE:

  • Responsible for up to three minor and one major Clarity enhancement release each year
  • Partners with IT application managers to resolve data collection issues
  • Coordinates with up to six Division Data Analysts and three Corporate Data Analysts

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business and Computer Science
  • Two or more years of relevant business area experience in which the following occurred:
    -Coordination of resources and efforts across geographic areas (preferred, but not required)
    -Participation in team-based work groups
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical data requirements
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple work efforts concurrently across multiple geographies and functional areas
  • Strong organization skills; ability to accurately track and manage multiple assignments at any given time
  • Understanding of the company’s data sources
  • Knowledge of/experience in the company’s proprietary information systems (HR, Pharmacy, Electronic Marketing Systems, SDIS)
  • Proficient in the use of office automation tools (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Interwise, and other Internet applications) and proven ability to learn new applications and technology quickly
  • Ability and confidence to interact with and positively influence peers and Senior Management
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities; able to communicate to various levels of the organization and across geographies
  • Experience in the retail industry (preferred, but not required)
  • Self-starter who can operate with limited direction
  • Minimal or no travel required

    REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Working knowledge of Terradata, Oracle 9.2 or higher, and MS SQL relational database systems
  • SQL knowledge a must (NSQL highly recommended)
  • Need to be able to write stored procedures, triggers and functions where needed.
  • Understanding of XML – Xoging
  • Scripting Language Skills (GEL Script and UNIX scripting highly recommended)
  • Basic Network Skills
  • Basic Client Operating System Skills

    PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
